Carol called this morning to let us know that Bill was taken back to UVA hospital last night. The in-home nurse came over yesterday and noticed that Bill was running a fever of 101. A few hours later it was up to 102.7 so they were off to the hospital. Luckily, Carol called the urology intern who had a room waiting in the ER for Bill so that he would not have to be exposed to the general public.
Carol left the hospital at 1:00 am and called me before heading back over this morning. I haven't heard anything yet, but they are pretty sure he has an infection so they are pumping him with fluids and antibiotics. Bill has only been out of the house once since surgery and they have been vigilant about keeping germs out of the house, so the infection may be caused by one of the catheters. He was supposed to have an appointment on Monday to remove one of the catheters, but there was a scheduling error and he was rescheduled for tomorrow morning. I'm assuming they will take care of all of this during the time he is in the hospital.
On a separate note, Mr. Davis, one of the PE teachers at my school (my former PE teacher!) lost his wife yesterday. She was not battling any illness that we know of and merely collapsed after he left for work. She passed away shortly afterward. Arrangements have yet to be made, but our school administration has been extremely supportive and will do whatever it takes to allow each of us to attend her services if we would like. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Davis and his daughters as they deal with such an unexpected loss.
I'll post an update as soon as I hear more. Thanks for the prayers!

Wow Dana, poor Greg and the girls. This is such devastating news as I remember the years I taught with Greg. I can't imagine what he and his family are going through right now. As if this wasn't enough sad news, I am also so sorry to hear that Bill is having complications. I will keep everyone in my prayers and remind myself to be thankful for still having so much of my family with me.
