Complaints

Yes, I should be writing about what I am thankful for, but now is not the time. I'd rather vent about all of junk that makes me want to pull my hair out.

1. Why is it that you go into the hospital to get "healed" and you come out with more issues than you went it with??? Poor Bill has been through it all!

2. Why do colleges make it difficult to figure out and stick to one program? They change the requirements every year to make it even more confusing. I just spent two hours with Rich looking over transcripts from BRCC and PVCC, as well as the PHETE requirements from JMU, and I feel like someone has steamrolled my brain! The counselors never explain things correctly and I always end up going in with Rich to "straighten them out"! I just love giving them the "I'm a teacher, we are married, he is not an 18 year old irresponsible kid, time is of the essence" talk. There needs to be an easier way to get from point A to point B, because I really have no idea how someone who hasn't been to college before could figure out this crap.

3. Lastly, I am thankful that Rich has been on a medical trial for his HcG injections which are not covered by insurance, but in this case are being paid for because hypogonadism is affecting much more than his fertility, including fatigue and mood swings. HOWEVER, even though he has six more months of his prescription the preauthorization from his doctor has run out so they won't refill the Rx. Great, it takes 3 months for the HcG to build up in your system and increase sperm count and no time to lose all of that ground if you stop the injections. So, even though it's the doctor's fault for not catching the preauthorization, we've had to jump through hoops and call the fertility pharmacy that I use to get a one month's supply of HcG for Rich.

If this screws up the free six month trial that he should have I will be furious! Secondly, when we called the pharmacy to get the month Rx filled they said the HcG would be $118 per vial (10,000 IU's)! I pay $38 per 10,000 IU's from the SAME pharmacy. What is their reasoning??? Rich's Rx states that it is not for fertility issues (a good thing b/c we don't want insurance to get wind of the main reason for treatment) but because of this, the cost per vial, SAME vial, is much more expensive. After trying to explain our predicament to the pharmacist over the phone they lowered the cost to $54 a vial, explaining that the same exact medication is coded to be more expensive for men, unfricken believable! The short of the story is that we are now paying $162 for a one month supply that should have been free to begin with and with our luck it'll throw off the study and we won't get the HcG anymore. Boy, do I love our health care system!

I don't know if I feel any better now, but hopefully I can get some sleep!
