Old School

So, if you read my Facebook post on Saturday you know the short of this story. Rich and I have just about lost our minds because of all of the drama that goes on in this house on a daily basis. I'm not sure what got into me Saturday morning, but I was tired, oh so tired, of being the only person up at the crack of dawn to take care of all the dogs (mine and theirs), start the laundry, and start cleaning. In the midst of my frustration, anger, annoyance, whatever you want to call it, I was reminded of what one of my former college roommates would do when she had to be up getting ready for work while the rest of us were lying in our beds....she would stomp around the kitchen and slam the cabinets which would make us furious, but at the same time get us up.

While empathizing and laughing about those years, I had a brilliant idea. The remote was in my hand so I turned to old school rap on music TV and found one of my favorite old jams, "I got 5 on it" by Luniz. I hit the volume up button until the dogs looked at me like I'd lost my mind and then I started dancing (ie STOMPING) all over the house and laughing out loud. The music and my hysterics put me in the best mood ever, but it doesn't stop there. I went into my bedroom to find Rich rolling around on the bed laughing hysterically as he watched my oh so hot gangsta stomp. He told me later that he knew immediately what was going on when he heard the music.

Yes, I think I have the passive aggressive thing down. It only took one song and little of the next OutKast song before Jerry was fully dressed and up the stairs with a total look of confusion on his face, not that this is different than any other day for him. Harsh, but true. I laughed and said, "you liked that wake up call, didn't you?" He said, "Yeah, I love that song." HA I guess he just didn't get it!

My new found method of stress relief was a success. The boys got up, I got to sing and dance, and no one had to walk around angry for the rest of the day! Mission accomplished. I'm thinking about a little Snoop for tomorrow's alarm:) They'd just be ready for 6:00 am, not 9:00!
