We went to UVA to see Bill today, just in time to help him pack up and head back home. They didn't want us to spread MRSA to any other patients so I looked like Big Bird with my yellow gown and gloves and Rich looked like the Hulk about to bust out of the gown they gave him:)
Bill looked much better, but was still feeling pretty weak and rough. In addition to the catheters, he now has two drainage bags hanging off his sides that look like grenades! By the time we got home he already had to empty one of the "grenades" and record the amount of fluid and color etc. in his journal. He still has a pic line (long IV that goes into his chest) that Carol will use to administer drugs while he is at home. His next appointment is in two weeks, so lets hope that the in home nurse stays on top of things and there are no more complications. He has three more weeks of antibiotics to make sure that the infection is taken care of. I know Bill is dying to get those catheters out!
Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers!
