We just got back from visiting Bill at the hospital this evening. I'm happy to report that the multitude of prayers have been working. Bill was able to get up and walk around some yesterday and today. The tube that was relieving gas from his belly through his nose was removed and he has eaten a little Jello and had some water today, huge change from a few days ago! The nurse also removed every other staple from his abdomen and taped him back up.
The doctors came in while we were there and said there is a possibility that he could go home on Monday! His white blood cell count is still higher than they would like, but he has no other signs of infection. If this number continues to be elevated they will do another CT scan to look for pockets of fluid in his belly that could be infected. The other possibility is that all of the IV's and other tubes could be causing and infection so they are going to remove the feeding tube and IV's tonight to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your continued support and prayers. Fingers crossed, he'll be home soon and then we can deal with the next step of this process.
