Carter's Mountain

(View from the orchard)

I finally have a few minutes to write about the weekend. We took Hailey to the Carter's Mountain Apple Festival on Sunday with Jennie, Shaun and Landon. Our plan was to get there while everyone else was at church, and for the most part it worked. The line coming up the mountain when we were leaving was nuts. I was impressed with the new addition that allowed for six separate lines for apple cider donuts and other refreshments. Hailey quickly devoured a donut and wanted more, which she did not get:)(Stop it! My donut!)

(A little chilly, and not so much fun with the pumpkins)
(Off to pick some apples!)

The kids didn't really want anything to do with the pumpkins, but had a blast picking Fuji apples. Uncle Rich also had a good time climbing the trees and hoisting the kids up to grab the good apples. I love fresh apples and will hopefully make a pie out of some of them when I get some down time. I also bought some apple butter which is fabulous on English muffins for breakfast.(This is much better than the pumpkins!)

(Searching for a good one!)

(Landon and his apple!)

(Love this shot)

After apple picking we all went to Chipotle for lunch and sat outside so the kids could run around after eating. The weather was gorgeous! What started out to be a short trip turned into a long, long day. We spent the afternoon visiting Bill and Carol at their house. Hailey enjoyed running around their huge yard chasing Norman and Boots. Before heading home, we stopped by Mimi's house and had pizza with my parents and Becky. This is when things started to go downhill...Hailey started complaining that her ear hurt and it only got worse as time went on. On the way home, she was screaming "Dana, my ear!" over and over again and then she'd scream for Rich. We decided to take her to the ER at Augusta Health where we sat for the next 4 hours. We finally got out of there after 12:00 am with antibiotics and ear drops. Needless to say, Monday morning was rough!

(Hailey buttoning PaPa's shirt..distraction from the earache)

(Hailey trying to get to Tommy Sue, the cat that has been living since I was a little girl!)

(Poor thing..."my ear huuurts!)

("Seriously, is it time to go home yet?")

Please note all of the outfit changes as well....we had two diaper blow outs and thankfully I packed an extra set of clothes and Mimi had the third outfit after a bath to get clean in the pink bath tub!

Yes, maybe next year! We used to go every year, but then took the last year or two off because it was so crowded.
