VA Lottery Super Teacher of the Year

Each year the Virginia Lottery gives money and classroom supplies to "super" teachers in the state. Eights teachers are chosen; one from each of the eight regions. An essay sent in by a co-worker put me in the Top Four Finalists for our area!

Virginia Lottery Super Teacher - Award #5 Analisa Lage Herring, a fourth grade teacher at Brownsville Elementary School in Crozet, has been selected to receive the Super Teacher Award.

Elizabeth Saunders, whose son is a student in Mrs. Herring’s class, wrote the winning essay that described her passion and ability to keep her class engaged and motivated.

Top Four Finalists:
Tawanda Johnson, T.C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation, Lynchburg
Sara Jones, Goochland Elementary School, Goochland
Heidi Robinson, Meriwether Lewis Elementary School, Charlottesville
Dana Stokes, Henley Middle School, Crozet

It's too bad that I didn't win because the prize below would have been awesome!

One Super Teacher will be selected from each of eight (8) regions within Virginia for a total of eight Super Teachers.

To be eligible, entries must have been received by March 12, 2010. Prizes will be awarded to each of the eight (8) teachers beginning April 19, 2010 and ending June 1, 2010.

Each Super Teacher will receive $2,000 credit with The Supply Room Companies to outfit his or her classroom and $2,000 from the Virginia Lottery.

Sorry you didn't win, but that doesn't mean you aren't a "Super Teacher!" Great that you were in the top 4 though. :)
