Storm a Brewing

Last Thursday we were hit by some nasty storms that took down tons of trees and power lines. I was trying to get my camp kids signed out by their parents right when the storm hit, which sent us running and scattering inside PVCC. I've never felt winds that strong before and thought I was going to get blown away before I made it inside. The power was already off by the time I got inside, so you know the winds were fast and fierce to knock out power within seconds.

A huge tree went down across I64 and lots of others blocked traffic and knocked out traffic lights. This made the whole parent pick-up process take more than an hour. I was happy to get home late and in one piece. Hailey, on the other hand, was having fun at Grandma's house watching another storm approach. Thank goodness she isn't scared of storms because these were something else.

I knew our dogs would be worked up, especially Dixie, from all of the thunder. When I got home only Dixie and Tank greeted me at the door, but I heard Maddie crying from somewhere. I thought she might have been stuck in one of the bedrooms when Rich left and shut the door. After a minute of running around frantically looking for her, I retraced my steps back to the door and found her. She was in the dryer of all places! I guess she got scared and saw a warm pile of clothes and made a jump for it. Then she realized she couldn't jump back out. Poor thing!
