Tank went in for his suture removal today and everything went well. He's on antibiotics for another two weeks to make sure he doesn't get an infection.
However, I told Rich to take Dixie in as well because over the last month she has been having accidents on the floor and drinking a lot of water. In addition, yesterday she looked like she was slipping and falling for no apparent reason. Well, a few hours later and another huge bill, Dixie is diagnosed with diabetes. We have to wait on confirmation from the bloodwork that got sent off, but we already started her on a low-fat diabetic prescription food and antibiotics for a UTI. It looks like we will be giving her two shots of insulin a day from now on! Seriously?!
All of this comes on the heals of Gracie and Holly being sick and costing a small fortune for my parents. It was the typical gastrointestinal issue, but they had to do lots of tests to be sure because it looked like Gracie had pancreatitis.
Right now, I have to feed four dogs four DIFFERENT types of dog food. Maddie gets a prescription food for her inflammatory bowel disease, Dixie is now on a new prescription food, and Tank and Jack are on different types of regular organic dog food. We may soon be spending more on dog food than our own food!
