Maddie injured her back again, but this time it is her lower spine. We're not sure what happened, but it may have happened when Rich was giving her a haircut and bath over the weekend. This dog squirms and jerks around more than any other I've seen. She HATES the bathtub with a passion. Anyhow, the refused to go for a walk two days in a row, which is unheard of, but she didn't really show us that she was in pain. I was confused because I thought it may be because it was raining on and off and she HATES the rain.
Thursday morning was different. She walked a little ways and then arched her back, dropped her head and started acting really strange. I could tell that she was in a lot of pain, so I carried her for the rest of the walk and ignored the pain I had in my left bicep from carrying a seemingly little dog for a good fifteen minutes. Rich took her to the vet once I got home and Dr. L said that she was in tremendous pain, even to the touch. She is on a steroid and pain-killer for now. If she doesn't improve in the next two weeks with no walks, no running, and no jumping then we will have to do x-rays. Dr. L suspects a slipped disc, but I hope we don't have to get to that point. Here are a few recent pics after we shaved the dogs:) I'm hoping they grow out their legs before Christmas pictures....i think we may have perfect timing for some good pics this year.
