Back to School...

Teachers returned on Tuesday for five work days before the students come back. We've had plenty of meetings, but lots of praise for making AYP and some pretty positive conversations so far. I've done PLENTY of socializing and less work than normal. It's too hard to stay isolated and get work done when we all have summer stories to share. However, I did a ton of work at the end of the year and organized my entire room, including the cabinets. What I need to focus on in the next couple of days is finding all of the photography equipment and figuring out how I'm going to teach this class. I have five science classes and two photography classes (one each semester). I seem to get stuck with a new elective every year, but it makes for a nice break in the day and something new for me to learn.

What do I have in store for the year??? Better yet, what don't I have going on???
Here are all of the stipended positions that I have acquired so far:
  • 6th grade Science Vertical Team Representative for the county
  • 6th grade Team Leader
  • After Study Coordinator
  • EB49 (Enrichment before 9:00) Sports Conditioning Coach
  • Track Coach
I also applied for the Technology Trainer position that was announced today and I'm considering taking on the Substitute Coordinator position. However, finding subs at 6:00 am or 9:00 pm is not my idea of fun. Keeping an organized calendar of dates people will be out sounds half way appealing. The good thing about this position is that I think I have some bargaining room with the stipend because the administration needs someone to take it on and would really like me to do it. We'll see how my meeting goes in the morning.

It's amazing how a few things in life change and my idea of working 9:00-4:00 goes out the window. I used to skim emails about other positions within the school because there was no way I was coming in early or staying late for a little bit of money. Now that I am the breadwinner and have a fricken homeless shelter as a home I am much more motivated to take on these jobs.

So, at the very least I will be:
  1. Leading a Sports Conditioning class M,W, F mornings from 8:00-9:00 am.
  2. Teaching After Study from 4:00-5:30 pm M, Tues, W, and Thurs.
  3. Leading Team Meetings from 8:30-9:00 on Tuesday mornings
  4. Attending Team Leader Committee meetings from 8:00-9:00 on Thursday mornings
  5. Coaching Track in the Spring
  6. Tutoring several nights a week from 6:00 pm to ????
=EVERY morning I have to be at school early and EVERY evening (except for Fridays) I have to work late!

Thank goodness I love my job! Tomorrow is our Open House and I can not wait to see those new little faces:)

Stay tuned for pictures of my classroom, which I will post for Megs only to further confirm that this is the profession for her!!
