Yesterday was Mimi's 80th birthday! She was born on February 12th, 1930. Today we celebrated this milestone with a surprise lunch at Golden Corral, one of her favorite places to eat. She said this was the first time she's been surprised on her birthday in 80 years!
Mimi opened her present from my mom and dad first, which was a digital picture frame. My mom spent several days loading over 300 pictures to the frame, most of which had to be scanned first because they covered family events over the last 80 years. We had a great time going down memory lane while watching the pictures flash by. It was bittersweet to see all of the pictures of my grandfather, "Mutton". The changing hairstyles and awkward middle school years made all of the grandchildren cringe;)
A few of Mimi's friends were able to join us for lunch as well. I think Mimi said it best when she said this was a great birthday, but she'll be around until she's 100 years old so we've got many more surprises in store.
