Grateful...

For several years I kept a pretty detailed journal each day. An important part of the journal included recording three things that I was grateful for each day. It all started when I saw an Oprah show about ten years ago on gratitude and decided to take on the task of keeping a gratitude journal. It ended up becoming something that I looked forward to doing and not actually a "task" at all. In the beginning it was hard to find things that I thought were significant enough to write about, but I quickly realized that life's little details are often what catch my attention the most.

After feeling like I've been on a sinking ship for the last year or so, I've decided that I need to get back to focusing on what I am grateful for. It doesn't matter how bad things get, there are always moments to treasure. In my attempt to get back on the wagon with my gratitude journal, I will attempt to post some of my thoughts here.

Today I am grateful:
  • That God blessed me with the gift of patience - probably my best characteristic:) I need it on a daily basis at home and at school.
  • For the random thunderstorm that occurred exactly at recess time. This would normally be a nightmare for me:) Instead of going outside I enjoyed a cup of hot green tea while sharing National Geographic pictures with the kiddos so they could make inferences.
  • For the designer of Dansko shoes and SmartWool socks. My feet are so happy to be in them!
I hope each of us can find at least one thing to be grateful for each day and take the time to recognize how amazing our lives are even during the most trying times.
