Another Update

Here's an update from my mom:

It has been a long week with the sick pup.  Just got home from our daily vet visit. Holly is doing slightly better today. Red blood cell count is finally going up instead of dropping.  Transfusion last weekend saved her life.  She has had a feeding tube in place most of this week, but has been able to be at home since Thursday with me  doing the feedings and giving medication...a full-time nursing job! But I think being home has really helped  with her recovery.

Vet says IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia) is one of the most serious diseases a dog can get.  We are so thankful that Holly has survived and still praying that she will recover.  Recovery can take a year or more, so we are looking at lots of vet visits and blood testing.

If red cell count continues to improve and she begins eating more normally the feeding tube can come out on Monday or Tuesday. She has begun to eat small amounts of chicken and sweet potato, etc., so I am hopeful we have started to turn the corner and she will get better and better each day.
