Happy 1st Birthday Hailey!

We celebrated Hailey's birthday on Sunday with some close family and friends. Hailey did not nap all day, but still managed to show off her new walking skills to everyone. She truly is a happy toddler, even with no sleep. I made some chocolate cupcakes with strawberry icing and decorated them with butterflies and flowers, but I wasn't too happy with the results. Sooooo, I got up early on Sunday and made an organic gluten-free chocolate cake (better for me) with butter cream icing and did a much better job with the decorating part. Rich grilled the hotdogs and was in charge of hanging decorations (which he did a good job of....I thought they might be hanging from every fixture!)



Hailey got to have some play time with her buddy, Jack Camblos. This time she did not try to poke him in the eyes (thank goodness!) and they actually shared toys together. He gave her a cute pull behind doggie which she loves! Rich and I enjoyed getting to spend some time with Amy, Mark, and Jack as well.

Grandma and Granddaddy got in some quality time with Hailey, as the 2:00-4:00 party lasted until 7:00. They gave Hailey some very cute winter clothes which came in handy last night on the walk to their house. The temperature is 20 degrees colder this week than last...brrrrr. She was quite the ham when trying on her new clothes...

Hailey also enjoyed getting to see Great Grandma Mimi, Becky, Matt and Shannon. She showed off how big she has gotten...all 27 lbs at last check! Her big sister, Ali, helped her open her gifts and only stole a few to play with herself:) Julie and Mike celebrated Hailey's birthday officially on Wednesday with cake and presents, but also joined in the fun at our house.

We decided to give Hailey one cupcake and let her go to town, but after smashing it around a little bit and licking the icing off of Granddaddy's fingers she had enough. I think she had more fun when we put her on the table with the cake and she stuck her feet in the cupcakes!

"Where's my milk at?"

Uncle Rich stepped in for his usual nighttime duties, which begins with some playtime and then quiet time in the recliner for all of his little girls and boys. We had a wonderful time celebrating with our cutie pie of a niece and hope that the next year does not fly by as quickly!
