Mom celebrated her 61st birthday on Thursday. Her birthday always reminds me of the start of school because it almost always falls on the first day back with the kids. I was exhausted after a long day with the kids, but we went to Outback for dinner and then over to my parents' house to eat some Kline's ice cream and chocolate chip scones that Rich and I made. The combination of ice cream and scones was perfect, not too sweet. I don't think any of us really, really enjoy cake and icing so my goal is to try new desserts for birthdays from now on.
