Happy Anniversary to Us!

When asked if it feels like it has been 3 years already, I can go either way.... It doesn't seem long compared to the four years we were together before we got married. In fact this is our 7 year anniversary of our first date, and 6th year of owning a house together.

However, when I think of how much has changed in the last three years as a couple and individually it seems like a LONG three years.
  • We have being trying to start a family since the moment we got married, and have watched most of our friends have baby number one and now most are on baby number two. Every month that goes by seems like an eternity.
  • We have spent the last 16 months with my brother and Hailey living with us. Some time alone as a normal married couple would be nice, but it has also been a blessing to spend so much time with Hailey during such an important time of her development. She came to us at 4 months old just starting to crawl and now she is a running, jumping, talking machine.
  • We moved, Rich lost his job, Rich became a full-time student, and I became the breadwinner.
  • We haven't had a vacation since our honeymoon, which at this point is becoming a necessity rather than a want. I guess we can hold out for another three years until Rich is done with school.
To celebrate our big day we went to dinner, even though both of us could have just as easily gone to sleep. After dinner we went grocery shopping and got a call from my mom to remind us to turn in an entry form at the grand opening of our new Grand Furniture store. I hate going to crowded grand openings, but they were giving away a $1000 shopping spree at 9:00 pm and it was 8:00 pm. So, we went ahead and registered and took a look around the store, which is huge! There are tons of other prizes that will be awarded on September 12th which is Rich's birthday, so he told the lady working that was a good sign.

We rushed home to walk the dogs before it was totally dark and while walking Rich missed a phone call from a number he didn't recognize. He called the number back and guess what? It was Grand! We won the $1000 shopping spree! I'm more excited about the prospect that our lucky may be finally turning around than the shopping, but can't wait to go to the store tomorrow and try to make a decision on some new furniture! So, our relatively uneventful anniversary ended with a nice gift.

In a few short weeks, we will be in Atlanta celebrating our anniversary with Megan and Tim. Since we did not buy each other anything, not even a card, our real celebration will be dinner at Roy's and the American Idol concert with great friends!
