This is the time of the year that we do our annual spider observation lab at school. I decided to try something new this year because my collaborative class was having a difficult time writing their spider stories/poems/songs. I gave them the option of creating an edible spider to present to the class with all of the body parts labeled. Well, once my other classes saw some of these creations they wanted to join in. I offered them the same project for extra credit and this is what I received this morning!! They ranged in size and shape, but for the most part all were correctly labeled and the classes enjoyed eating them once the presentations were finished. I saved the best picture for last....it was sitting in my room when I walked in this morning. There is no doubt that the parents, who own 3 restaurants, were in on this creation!!

(A tiny spider with pretzel legs covered in fruit roll-up.)

(Cute combination of candy and cake.)

(A huge spider cake...very good!)

(Lots of sugar!)

(The only healthy spider...asparagus, peppers, onions and broccoli.)

(Incredible, huh?)

(The web was made of melted jolly ranchers.)
