Turkey Day!

We spent our Thanksgiving celebrating with my dad's side of the family at Mimi's house. We missed Shannon and Matt who were out of town, but enjoyed seeing everyone else. Rich made a second pumpkin cake recipe for the occasion. He tried his first recipe with all organic ingredients, applesauce instead of oil, whole wheat flour, and splenda. He wasn't a big fan, but I loved it. I took the rest of that batch to school and got requests all day for the recipe. Either way, both pumpkin cakes were very good. Mom and Dad made their usual homemade cranberry sauce which I LOVE. I think I could live off of their cranberry sauce and stuffing. I remember them bringing a container of the cranberry sauce to JMU every year for me to enjoy with my stuffing that was made in the microwave! Everyone else made their usual dishes- Mimi-the turkey, gravy, cornbread stuffing, macaroni and tomates. Becky-green beans and brownies. Bonnie-mashed potatoes. I think this was the first year that I didn't make anything myself, but I enjoyed eating all of it. Rich and I spent the evening with full bellies in our recliners and watched "This Christmas". Did I mention, that I love Chris Brown?!

Update on the canned food drive...638 cans later, my class WON! They will be enjoying a pizza and icecream party sometime next week. I'm hopeful that we gave more than a few families a Happy Thanksgiving.

Today we went to Harrisonburg and saw "Four Christmases". It was pretty funny, but had some slow parts. However, I can not wait for "Marley and Me" to come out!
