My new occupation is vet tech or doggie nurse. I feel like all I've done since I got out of school is take care of Maddie. The good news is that it seems to be working. She has not had any more accidents so thankfully I'm not having to clean up nastiness anymore.
I took her back in this afternoon for more subcutaneous fluids, an appetite stimulant, and eye drops. I also picked up more antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds. Maddie hasn't eaten anything other than a bit or two of chicken since Sunday when she got her last appetite stimulant and has not had a single drop of water (other than the syringe that I squirt in her mouth with her meds that she won't swallow).
However, since I got home from the vet she has eaten a fair amount of chicken, a little dog food, and peed 3 times. She is walking around now without much pain. I sure hope not with the amount of drugs she is on! We are trying to keep her quiet, but she wants to walk outside to pee and I'm not stopping her. I'm not sure what is going on with the meds though because she seems very anxious and keeps getting up out of her bed. Between the pacing and the crying all night, I haven't gotten much sleep in the last few days. Ugh. I really hope that she calms down tonight and goes to sleep!
