Today wraps up my first week of summer school. The week started off pretty much a disaster because of poor planning and coordination at the school, but now that I am on my own in the classroom it is much better. I could have taken the easy route and made our curriculum focus sustainability and alternative energy because this is what I teach during the year, but I instead I decided to focus my instruction around "mysteries", and specifically science mysteries and forensic science. I will say that although it has taken a lot of planning, I am learning a lot and I am very interested in these topics. The kids seem to be enjoying themselves and other than being a little too chatty they are a good group.
Now, if only the regular school day could let out at 12:30! I am able to go the gym in the morning and then again in the afternoon, do laundry, run errands, and even have time to relax. I'm thinking that a part-time teaching job is just what I should shoot for in the future:)
