Sickos

Maddie has been miserable because of something going on in her mouth.  I took her to the vet two weeks ago and they said just to brush her teeth and spray them with a cleaner to reduce the plague build up.  She just got her teeth cleaned in January, so she shouldn't even have any build up yet.  I could tell that she was getting worse because of the foul odor coming from her mouth and the pain that she was in when eating.  When I took her to the groomer last week I had her look for anything suspicious.  She ended up having to cut off Maddie's entire beard because it was completely tangled up.  When she got home I was able to see why she was so tangled.  There was a constant nasty drool that was getting stuck in her beard.  Gross.  I ended up taking her to the vet on Saturday, who diagnosed her with painful ulcers on her lips.  We are waiting on blood work to tell us why she may be getting these...possibly kidney disease:(  In the meantime, she is on antibiotics, pain killers and a spray to help heal the ulcers.  We go back to the vet on Saturday for a follow-up.  I hate it when pets get old!

Hailey also had a rough day yesterday.  She didn't have a fever or any other noticeable signs of illness, but she woke up with a belly ache and went back to sleep for another four hours.  She pretty much laid around the rest of the day and refused to eat anything.  I know that she is sick when she hands back fruit snacks and cookies!  She seemed a little better by the time that Julie picked her up last night, but she still hadn't eaten a single thing all day.  I am hoping she is better today!
